Start 2025 With This Free Brain Dump Tool

Friend...

Happy New Year! I hope 2025 is already bringing you clarity and focus for the year ahead.

Recently, I was featured in a USA TODAY article written by Alexandra Frost: “8 tips to help actually keep your New Year’s resolutions this year.” While the article shared a quick tip, I wanted to share more with you—because this resolution has completely transformed how I live and work.

For the past few years, my New Year’s resolution has been simple: less is more.

I used to get caught up in over-romanticizing all the things I wanted to change when the new year rolled around. But three years ago, I decided to focus on a single goal: build on what works and prioritize creativity.

Here’s how I applied that:

  • In my personal life: I offloaded everything that clutters my mind. I started using a digital calendar for every little reminder, which freed up space to focus on what already works—my routines, my wellness, and the small joys I wanted to nurture.
  • In my business: I leaned into the services my clients loved, rather than chasing trends. Staying true to what works gave my creativity room to grow authentically, and it paid off in ways I never imagined.

Make Brain Dumping Your Daily Ritual

One practice that has made all the difference is brain dumping.

A brain dump helps you clear your mind of everything swirling around—tasks, ideas, reminders—and puts it all into one place. It’s not just about organization; it’s about creating space for what really matters.

But here’s the thing: Don’t wait for the “perfect” moment to do this. The best time to brain dump is first thing in the morning, when your mind is still fresh. Make it part of your daily ritual, like grabbing your coffee or brushing your teeth. Spending just 5–10 minutes jotting down your thoughts can shift your whole day.

I’ve put together a special tool just for you: the Digital Brain Dump Worksheet. It’s my go-to method for staying organized and focused—and I think you’re going to love it too!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Grab a Pen (or Your Phone): Try doing this before you even get out of bed.
  2. Dump Everything Out: Write down everything on your mind—tasks, ideas, worries, reminders.
  3. Sort & Focus: Once it’s all out, quickly prioritize what needs attention first.

Prompts include:

  • Daily: What are the top three things I need to focus on today?
  • Weekly: What events or projects need my attention this week?
  • Monthly: What long-term goals do I want to keep progressing on this month?

Starting your day with a clear head makes everything feel more manageable. Try it out tomorrow morning—yes, tomorrow!—and let me know how it works for you.

Friend... Recently, a friend told me they were looking for a job. When I asked what they wanted to do, they said, “I’ll do anything.” I immediately told them, That’s the worst thing you can say. It’s basically like saying, “Give me the bottom of the barrel.” So I pushed back, "No, really—what do you WANT to do?" That’s when they started opening up, telling me how they ran a digital store where they designed and sold clothing with their own artwork. They were a digital artist. An author. A...

Proactive vs. Reactive and how processing emotions before they process you can be powerful in your career!

Friend... Last time, we talked about how emotions don’t just disappear when we ignore them... they wait. And when they finally demand attention, it’s usually at the worst possible time. This doesn’t just apply to personal emotions, it happens in our careers too. Have you ever been fired (or left a job under tough circumstances) and told yourself, That’s in the past, I don’t need to think about it anymore? But then, months later, when you’re in an interview and asked why you left that job, all...

Processing Emotions: Don’t Let Them Wait in Line

Friend... Sometimes, we face tough decisions, and our instinct is to push our feelings aside. We tell ourselves we’ll deal with them later—when we have more time, when things aren’t as stressful, when we feel ready. But here’s the thing: if you don’t process your emotions, they don’t just disappear. They wait. And then, at the most random moment, they come crashing in. I used to tell my clients that avoiding emotions is like making them wait in line. They don’t leave. They just stand there,...
